So if you have a solution to fix this problem definitively, I'll happy to read it.ĮDIT: I made a mistake: the workaround with grub doesn't work (modeset=0 or nomodeset), however I don't need to do Alt + → and alt + ← when i'm facing the black screen, a simple Left or Right are enough. With this, it works again and I can access the password asking screen. It's cool, I can now boot ! But what can I do to fix this problem definitively ?ĮDIT: THIS TRICK DOESN'T WORKS: When grub is loaded (it's not at each boot, sometimes that display directly the black screen), I can edit the grub entry via the 'e' key and add to the "linux." line the "readon.modeset=0" command. This guide will take new users through a step by step installation of Fedora 36 with Screenshots. So, if when the black screen appears, I just press Alt + ← and then Alt + → to switch my tty, I have now the password asking screen for the decryption. 1 The much awaited Fedora 36 is about to be released after a patient wait from the fans and enthusiasts, there are no more barriers to getting it on your hands because beta releases are available for download and testing out. Appreciate the help.I know this subject was already treated, and I found a "fix" to bypass this black screen thanks to this answer (LUKS encyption part): My computer boots to a black screen, what options do I have to fix it? Is there any other information I would need to give you guys? Not sure what is relevant here, but I know my computer is 64 bit at least.ĮDIT: thanks everyone! I can't believe I got so many responses from such a small sub. Both these open as windows with KDE theming and style, and have correct resolution and scaling on both monitors. Since I couldnt boot from USB until i changed the hard drive in BIOS, I'm wondering if i did that right. If I use the normal boot option and get to the black screen with a cursor I can press ctrl+ esc to open the system monitor (again might be different name, I am new to linux), and then use that to launch the terminal. The computer seems like it's still on and running fine, so I think it might be a problem with my monitor not being supported. off the screen to do a sensor self-calibration again after display calibration before. I set my hard drive to centon USB (the flash drive), and then I tried to boot it, but it goes straight to black screen every time, with no chance to actually try anything. If all else fails, read Installing ArgyllCMS on Linux: Setting up. Is there any specific format the drive needs to be in for it to work? I have an emachines computer that a friend gave me, and I'm trying to install Fedora on it, so I can get ready for my OS class next semesterl and because it seems like a good linux to get started on otherwise.
